DID YOU KNOW your body's first line of fuel is carbohydrates? YES, your brain prefers carbohydrates over fat and protein to function properly. So why would we deprive it of that?
It is important, however, that we provide our body with high-quality (nutrient-dense) carbohydrates like FRUITS and VEGETABLES and WHOLE GRAINS over simple sugars coming from juices, sodas, sweet tea and candy. SIDE NOTE: Although many low-carb diets can result in quick weight loss, many that have been studied do not lead to SUSTAINED weight loss.
Mind you, there are many different low-carb diets swirling around, so I am not debunking them all, and certainly not for those who have been medically advised to follow a low-carb diet. For the vast majority of us however, low-carb is a #TBT diet is not preferred over a diet more balanced in carbohydrates, protein and fat (like the Mediterranean diet).
